The Institute Mihajlo Pupin (IMP) is a leading Serbian R&D institution in information and communication technologies, the largest and oldest in the whole South Eastern Europe. The institute was founded in 1946 and has 473 employees, 250 of them being researchers. At IMP, projects of critical national importance have been conducted, combining systems engineering and information technology to develop innovative solutions in the area of telecommunications and computer networks, knowledge and content technologies and applications, Web services, robotics, management information systems, e-government, e-business etc. IMP provides a wide range of products and services. Its service scope covers customized IT solutions, HW/SW outsourcing, technology consulting, engineering, prototyping, and system design and integration. IMP’s ISO 9001 Quality Assurance Certificate guaranties that customers value and quality expectations are met. Customers include world companies such as Raytheon, BASF, NCR and Philips. Pupin is currently involved in 22 research project funded by the Serbian Ministry of Science (thus having the major share in national R&D funding). It is also the most successful Serbian institution when it comes to internationally funded research, being involved in  number of FP6, FP7, CIP and EC Interreg projects. Pupin has coordinated the FP6 Web4WeB project, contributing to the Institute’s establishment as a centre of excellence for the Semantic Web technologies for the whole West Balkan region.
