From Monday, 19.09. 2011 until Wednesday, 21.09. 2011 the 2nd LOD2 plenary meeting took place in Leuven, Belgium hosted by LOD2 partner TenForce. It was the main face to face meeting after the 1st project year – and this meeting was also special because it was the first meeting since the LOD2 expansion with 5 more project partners with September 2011!
Thereby a lot of presentations took place to A) introduce the 5 new partners of LOD2 to the 10 existing partners and vice versa as well as B) to present and discuss the state of play of the several LOD2 work packages. Furthermore planning sessions for the next steps in all 12 LOD2 work packages took place in small working groups in the course of the plenary meeting these days.

As being a LOD2 tradition in the meantime two LOD2 side events were organised and took place in the course of the plenary meeting: A) a 1 hour session about Linked Open Data and LOD2 with a text mining researcher group from Belgium that had a 2 days meeting in Leuven at the same time and B) the Leuven Open Data MeetUp that took place in the evening of the 20th of September at the council chamber (‘Raadzaal’) in the provincial building (‘Provinciehuis’) of Leuven to inform politicians, public administration, citizens and industry (and other interested audience) of Leuven about the idea of (linked) open data as well as showing best practise examples for Open Government Data in Europe (Ghent and Vienna) and pointing out the benefit & importance of open data for local governments.
